Debby is honored to be the Global Mala coordinator for NJ where 19 yoga studios are participating in 21 cities/towns. If you have friends who are interested in participating but don't live in the Livingston area, there will most likely be a yoga center for them to participate.

For more information on the Global Mala, all the wonderful yogis and yoginis and places around the world that are involved, see www.globalmala.org. Global Mala events will be going on around the world with Kirtan, meditation, namaskars, bonding, joy and PEACE.

For further information, please email Debby (Debby@livyoga.com).

A word about doing 108 Surya Namaskars…

If you think you can’t do it, you will be utterly surprised at how the ritual of these salutations takes you through this. Last year’s participants were blown away that they completed 108, energized, emotional and quite empowered to be a part of this experience. Here’s a wonderful way for our entire community to join together, be one and let our bead on this worldwide mala shine brightly.

in Global Mala, Sunday, September 21, 2008.

LivYoga is happy to be participating in the Global Mala Project again this year in celebration of our Fall Equinox and the important UN International Day of Peace. Global Mala, conceived by Shiva Rea is without a doubt, "the largest unified worldwide yoga event dedicated to positive change in the history of the planet." Global Mala is a gathering of 1000s of yogis and yoginis from around the globe, with the intention of rising to PEACE IN ACTION! as well as raising awareness and funds for important worldwide, national and local issues going including: global warming, AIDS prevention, poverty and war. This year, Global Mala has partnered with Yoga Health Foundation, making this effort even stronger.

In NJ, there are 18 yoga centers participating and growing and each yoga center has selected causes that are close to their heart for this year. LivYoga has selected two:

LivYoga Outreach—a new and exciting non-profit being developed to help bring yoga to people in need in our community. It warms our heart to be able to bring the wonderful gifts of yoga to so many people. e.g. battered women’s organizations, prisons, homeless shelters

All Stars Project/Flamm Center—All Stars Project is an organization that helps less fortunate kids get on their feet, priming them to be ready for the world at large including getting them ready for college. The Flamm Center is named after a local resident, Scott Flamm who passed away at 50 and was quite involved. The 15,000 sq. ft Flamm Center in Newark will be a “the hub for an expanding bridge between New Jersey’s poorest young people and a broad and diverse community of caring adults from suburban and corporate New Jersey.” www.allstars.org/flamm_center.html

You have a wonderful opportunity this year to participate in either of these PEACE WAVES happening on September 21, 2008.

NEWARK HUB EVENT: On Sunday, September 21st at 8:30am, yogis/yoginis from 11 yoga centers and communities in NJ will gather at the Portuguese Sports Club in Newark.

We’ll begin by listening to some quite inspiring words by Mayor Cory A. Booker!

Then you'll join 200 others in a ritual 108 surya namaskars with live music, 108 rounds of Om and more.

Fee for HUB event is $27(minimum donation) and you can sign up at LivYoga or on the globalmala nj site where you’ll fill out a form, select the charity of your choice and send it in to Global Mala NJ (www.globalmalanj.com). Directions to HUB event will also be posted in this site shortly. Location is close to Newark Penn Station as well.

Note that there will be an additional HUB event in Hoboken. Check www.globalmalanj.com for details.

LIVYOGA EVENT: Sunday, September 21st, our rotating class will be extended—starting at 10:30 and ending at approximately 12:30pm as participants will be rising to peace in action through 108 surya namaskars led by a LivYoga instructor. Our suggested fee for participation in this mala is also $27.

We’d be honored for you to be involved however you can. Yoga communities around the world are working to make a difference in fostering peace as well as helping so many important causes. Feel free to donate what you can, ask others to support you.

If you do have others support you in this mala (that would be so great), please have them write their donations out directly to either All Stars Project/Flamm Center or LivYoga Outreach. Please bring all donations to the Global Mala event and we will take care of sending them in for you at the conclusion of the event. Whatever you do does make a difference. Thank you.

100% of net proceeds will be given to either LivYoga Outreach or All Stars Project/Flamm Center.
