Join us with Diana Pollaro RYT & certified Ayurvedic consultant at LivYoga as we 'Fall' into Balance with Ayurveda

Ayurveda means 'life knowledge'. It originated some 5,000 years ago and is the original form of medicine or healing if you will. From it, all other forms of medicine or healing have been derived. The constitution (prakruti) of the body/mind is made up of the elemental energies-vata (air/space), pitta (fire/water), & kapha (water/earth). A balance of these elemental energies is made manifest through the practice of yoga, diet, lifestyle, spirituality, the use of gems, colors, herbs, karma etc. These elemental energies are also what the universe and everything in it is made up of. When there is imbalance (vikruti), an elemental energy becomes a 'dosha' meaning 'that which is out of balance'. The aim of Ayurveda is to eliminate these doshas through recognition and eradication of the symptoms with which they are associated rather than wait until there is a named disease that is in a stage that is too progressed to treat or which is treatable, but due to the radical nature of the treatment that must be used, causes possible side effects and further suffering.

By striving for right relationship with other sentient beings, nature, and our environment, we help to create homeostasis within ourselves and all that surrounds us. Winter is 'vata' season; a time when the qualities of vata can increase and therefore send us out of balance. During this workshop, we will practice a yoga sequence aimed at reducing the accumulation of vata (air/space). Then, Diana will offer recommendations on how to mitigate negative effects such as constipation, dry skin, winter colds/flu, lethargy/fatigue, and anxiety, etc, that can be associated with a vata imbalance.

Handouts will be given and questions are welcome.
